Rockstar Leeds è stata fondata nel 1997 da Gordon Hall, Jason McGann, Dave Box e Ian Bowden come Mobius Entertainment. Nell'Aprile 2004, l'editore Rockstar Games ha acquisito la compagnia, e le ha dato il nome di Rockstar Leeds.

Oggi la compagnia consiste in oltre 30 designer e programmatori di giochi, dedicati allo sviluppo di giochi. La compagnia è situtata in Lower Wortley, una città in Leeds, Inghilterra, una chiesa convertita del 18° secolo.[1]
La compagnia ha sviluppato sia i giochi di Grand Theft Auto per PSP, Liberty City Stories e Vice City Stories, ed ha anche aiutato a sviluppare la versione PS2 del gioco appena citato ed anche Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Ha anche sviluppato GTA Chinatown Wars per Nintendo DS.
